Global Citizen’s Move Afrika campaign is set to make waves in West Africa, with Ghana announced as a host nation alongside Rwanda for a 2024 concert event, a thrilling development for music enthusiasts and advocates of positive social change.

Riding on the heels of Kendrick Lamar’s stellar performance just over a month ago, the Move Afrika initiative continues its commitment to economic investment, job creation and entrepreneurship in each host country.

The collaboration between Global Citizen, Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo and the creative powerhouse PGLang adds a new dimension to the event, and highlights the essence of partnerships in tackling global issues.

Hugh Evans, , Founder, CEO, of Global Citizen in a recent interview with Bloomberg announces the locations that Move Africa will take place in 2024. He stated, “We are taking Global Citizen to both Kigali, Rwanda as well as Ghana, West Africa this coming year.”

Move Afrika’s mission to promote social justice and equity in Africa perfectly aligns with Global Citizen’s broader goal of ending extreme poverty globally.

The Global Citizen Festival, which originated in 2012 in New York, has a rich history of mobilizing people to take action against extreme poverty. Evolving over the years, the festival now closely aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming to eradicate global poverty by 2030.

The 2022 Global Citizen Festival held in Ghana, featuring an eclectic mix of local and international artistse, showcased the potential for impactful cultural exchange and collaboration. The resounding success and positive reception demonstrated a hunger for such experiences, prompting calls from Ghanaians for local event organizers to draw inspiration from these global initiatives.

Move Afrika has the capacity to have a significant social and economic impact in the host countries in addition to providing unforgettable entertainment.

This programme celebrates the transforming power of advocacy and music in bringing about positive change, while providing Ghanaians and Rwandans with a unique opportunity to get involved with global issues.
