In a heartwarming show of commitment to social impact, Global Media Alliance (GMA) and Japan Motors have once again honored their longstanding pledge to the Ghana Blind Union (GBU).

The partners donated 70 white canes to aid mobility and independence for visually impaired persons across the country.

The presentation, held in Accra, formed part of the 15th edition of the Japan Motors, Global Media Alliance Corporate Run, an annual fitness and charity event that channels 25% of its proceeds to support the Ghana Blind Union.

The presentation, also coincided with the global observance of World White Cane Day, marked every year on October 15.

Salah Kwaku Kalmoni, Director of Events at Run Ghana, emphasized the significance of the donation: “Mobility is freedom. These white canes are more than tools, they’re a gateway to independence. We’re proud to fulfill our promise and even go beyond the 25% contribution, thanks to additional support from our partners.”

Dr. Peter Obeng-Asamoah, Executive Director of the Ghana Blind Union (GBU), expressed heartfelt appreciation, “This generous gesture means more blind persons can move freely, interact with society, and live independently. We are deeply grateful to Japan Motors and GMA for consistently standing with us.”

The event also featured remarks from Shadrach Twumasi, Event Lead at GMA, and Zuta Tei Isaac, Event Manager at Run Ghana, who acknowledged the contributions of numerous partners including Lakeside Estate, Silver Star Tower, Blue Skies, Happy FM, YTV, eTV Ghana, and many others.

As part of the extended support, GMA pledged media airtime worth GHS 15,000 on Happy FM to help the Ghana Blind Union promote awareness and activities leading up to their own celebration of White Cane Day.

With next year’s Corporate Run already scheduled for September 21, 2026, organizers are calling on corporate Ghana and individuals to join the movement, running not just for fitness, but for purpose.
