Founding President and Executive Dean of Nobel International Business School, Professor Kwaku Atuahene-Gima, says he has observed that Ghanaian youths lack the strong desire to know or learn more about what happens around them.

He believes that this is as a result of distraction from technology and gadgets.

The professor was speaking in an interview with YFM’s Rev. Erskine on the Y Leaderboard Series when he expressed: “Quite a lot of young people at this period are too concerned with gadgets and technology that they don’t take the time to look at things and ask the question ‘why?’”

He shared, however, that the youth must be curious as that is the only way to be innovative and create something worthwhile.

Sharing his personal experience of how curiosity made him creative, he related that his curiosity led him to question why every university has to start with an undergraduate education before introducing higher levels of education. Based on this question, he decided to set up the Nobel International Business School which starts from the doctorate education. “We are the first business school in the world to start with the doctorate,” he proudly mentioned.

He adds that the school seeks to “develop and create executive doctors” who from time to time, will deliberate on issues to offer innovative solutions to various governments.

Kwaku Atuahene-Gima is Professor of Marketing & Innovation; former Chair, Marketing Department, and Director of the Center for Marketing & Innovation (CMI) at CEIBS; Executive Director of CEIBS (Africa), Adjunct Professor of Innovation at Mannheim Business School, Germany and the Academic Advisor to the Management & Marketing Department, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has been an invited participant for executive education in innovation at the Harvard Business School. He is a product of the University of Ghana, University of New South Wales, and University of Wollongong, Australia.

Kwaku is the first African Scholar ranked among the world’s top 1,000 innovation management scholars, at number 4.

Professor Atuahene-Gima had a c-score of 4.00 in the list of World Ranking of Top 2% Scientists published 16th October 2020 that ranks him 140 out of a total of 36,319 Top 2% scientists in Business and Management.
