GTA announces Kwahu Easter Paragliding Festival 2026 under Mahama’s patronage
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has announced the organisation of the Kwahu Easter Paragliding Festival 2026, set to take place from April 3 to April 6 at the Odweanoma Mountains in the Kwahu enclave of the Eastern Region.
This year’s festival will be held under the distinguished patronage of John Dramani Mahama, with support from the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, and organised under the leadership of GTA’s Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto.
Widely regarded as Ghana’s premier adventure tourism event, the Kwahu Easter Paragliding Festival remains the flagship attraction during the Easter festivities, drawing thousands of local and international tourists to the Kwahu area each year.
The 2026 edition will feature tandem paragliding flights for patrons, aerial displays, safety demonstrations, tourism exhibitions, and curated visitor experiences aimed at positioning Ghana as a top destination for adventure and domestic tourism.
Beyond paragliding, a host of activities have been lined up across the Kwahu enclave, including street carnivals, musical concerts, nightlife events, cultural performances, traditional displays, and food bazaars showcasing Ghanaian cuisine.
Exhibitions of Made-in-Ghana products, tourism activation programmes, and community engagement initiatives are also expected to form part of the celebrations.
The festival forms part of broader government efforts to strengthen domestic tourism, create jobs, and advance the growth of the tourism, culture, and creative arts sector as a key driver of national development.
Organisers say close collaboration with the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, traditional authorities, local assemblies, security agencies, and private sector partners will ensure a safe and successful event.
The GTA has therefore extended an open invitation to the public, corporate organisations, development partners, and the international community to participate in the festival and experience Ghana’s vibrant culture, hospitality, and adventure tourism offering.
