An 83rd minute penalty converted by defender Vincent Atingah handed Accra Hearts of Oak all three points in a 1-0 victory over Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Sunday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Referee Samuel Sukah awarded Hearts the penalty in the 82nd minute when he adjugded defender Ahmed Adams to have handled a shot from Sam Yeboah.
Protests from the Kotoko defenders did not stop the Referee Sukah from showing Adams a yellow card and sticking firm to his decision.
Atingah, a penalty expert from his days with Ebusua Dwarfs stepped-up and scored, despite having a heavily bandaged head from an injury suffered during the game.
He displaced young Kotoko goalie Felix Annan to score.

The loss was Kotoko’s first of the season and prevented them from moving past Aduana Stars to the summit of the league.
The result moved Hearts to eight place on the Ghana Premier League standings while Kotoko remain in second place on 17 points behind leaders Aduana on account of an inferior goal difference.
