Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 2012 Africa Movie Academy Awards Majid Michel says he does not charge in Ghana cedis for featuring in movies.
The top African actor in a conversation with Starr FM agreed to mention his fee he takes before appearing in movie and it is not chicken change. The ‘Somewhere In Africa’ actor disclosed that he takes about $15,000 (GH66,000) for a movie.
He continued to say that the highest amount he has taken for a role in a movie is a whooping $35,000 (Gh155,000).
“I take $15,000 per movie and not cedis,” Majid told host of Starr Chat Bola Ray Wednesday.
Michel entered professional acting by auditioning for a modelling agency; a neighbour had introduced him to that agency. He was invited to join the modeling agency, Super Model Agency, on the behest of his next-door neighbour. He starred in the television series Things We Do for Love, acquiring his nickname “Shaker” on the set. His role on Things We Do for Love was to be played by a Lebanese boy, and Michel attributes being given the role due to his Lebanese heritage.
