Ghanaian UK-based singer and rapper, Nana Richard Abiona popularly known as Fuse ODG in showbiz has disclosed that he never anticipated the hit of his single ‘Antenna’.

Speaking on the ‘Y Entertainment Podium’ show with Macall Mensah on Y 97.9 FM, the award-winning musician mentioned that he did not expect his single to be a world hit and become very popular. He mentioned that he had recorded other songs that he thought were better hits than the Azonto tune.

“I wasn’t certain because there were many other songs before that and to me, they were great songs and to me they were bangers. But I did know I was doing something different because it was a UK vibe and was Afro beats and was from Ghana. We definitely knew we were doing something different to the usual and I guess that came through and we connected to the world, we didn’t expect it to be that instant and massive”, he said.

Being asked if the Azonto tune was the biggest song in his career, with no hesitation, the ‘Down on one knee’ hitmaker asserted that the song was his breakthrough song and paved the way for his music career.

“We can definitely say that was the breakthrough, that was the breakthrough for me, but I always knew that my talent was a lot bigger than that one song, but it opened the door for me. For me as an artiste, it was an easy song for me to do”, he added.

Fuse ODG is currently celebrating 10 years of music production in London and in Accra and in preparations of organizing celebration parties in both cities.

Fuse ODG is a born Ghanaian, UK-based afro-beats artiste who became popular after his hit single ‘Antenna’ in 2013. The song peaked at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart, the song also peaked at number 85 on the Irish Singles Chart. He has received several awards and honours including the most prestigious MOBO Awards and Grammy Awards.
