One of the biggest afrobeat singers in Ghana currently, Gyakie, has disclosed that she did not want to release the newest hit ‘Need me’ just yet.
In an interview with Kojo Manuel on Y107.9FM’s Dryve of Your Lyfe, she made another revelation that the song was recorded close to a year ago but she kept postponing the release. “I actually didn’t want us to drop this song but it was my manager’s favorite song”, she said.
According to the Song Bird, her manager, Electromirror loved the song very much and was always eager for them to release it, hence, they finally did and “now the song is my favorite too”, she added. She confessed that she was nervous releasing the song because it had been a whole year since she last put out a song, however, the feedback so far has been amazing.
Gyakie detailed that ‘Need me’ was produced by Sosa, who is also the producer of her other hit songs ‘Love is pretty’ and ‘Never like this’. She also disclosed that she has some more songs produced by Sosa which she will be releasing as time goes.
Giving a little background on how ‘Need me’ was put together, the ‘Never like this’ hit-maker explained, “We recorded the song in his studio. When it comes to Gyakie and love songs, there’s no disconnect so he played the beat and I could feel that this has to be a love song”.
The storyline behind ‘Need Me’, she expunged, is the type of relationship or situationship where you want somebody but they don’t seem to want you like you do so you just stay in the waiting corner for whenever they want to talk to you because you like them.
The song is the singer’s latest single and it is accompanied by a very sensual video that expresses Gyakie in all her sweet, loving moods. Both audio and videos of the song are out for streaming on all digital platforms and it is already making waves all over the country and beyone.
