Ghanaian afrobeats and highlife sensation, Eugene Kwame Marfo, known as Kuami Eugene in music circles has revealed that his song YOLO captures a previous bad relationship experience he had.
Kuami Eugene while describing the record’s creative process to Kojo Manuel, host of Y107.9FM’s Dryve of Your Lyfe explained that every individual at a point in life gets coupled up with a partner that they presently wished they never met. “Every individual who is above 25 years old has met at least one person they wished they never dated after they moved on.” he hinted.
In the first line of the record’s second verse, Eugene sings, “I fell in love and I almost lose my life…” which tips listeners on the singer’s fair share of bad relationship experiences.
The ‘Angela’ hitmaker likened the turmoil bad partner choices bring to a ‘verge of death’ experience and emphasized the importance of a good partner. “We’ve all had that past relationship we just sit back, look at and just wish we never met that person; you almost lose your life; I’ve had that experience before, I fell in love and I almost lost my life.” he said.
YOLO, produced by MOG Beatz is featured as the third song on Kuami Eugene’s latest album, ‘Love and Chaos’ which was released on Wednesday, October 11,2023. The song gives listeners a good vibe of Afrobeats and a warm touch of smooth vibes.
