Award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Derrick Sarfo Kantanka popularly known as Amerado, has disclosed that he started working on his debut studio album, G.I.N.A two years ago.
According to him, the successful release of his latest album proves to be growth as an artiste in the industry.
In an interview with LJ on Y107.9 FM’s “Ryse N Shyne”, the 2022 3 Music “Rapper of the Year” reiterated that he means business in the industry.
“Basically as an artiste, you grow and then you evolve. You can’t just stick to dropping singles all the time. We have to make people know that you’re improving daily. As an artist you need to reassure a lot of people like your fans and let them know that we are here for actually business and not to play,” he said.
He continued, “So I think last two years I started thinking about dropping my maiden album. I had a discussion with my team and the said yes I can go on with the recording and when it’s cool we can move on with it.”
Reacting to the meaning of G.I.N.A, Amerado hinted that the abbreviation was his mother’s name. Hence he needed to coin his special album from a loved one.
“GINA is actually my mother’s name and then I found an acronym to it. I got the acronym from a loved one and that made the album title for me,” he added.
Amerado announced the release of his debut studio album on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. The album includes hit songs “Grace” and “Back To Sender” among other beautifully produced songs like “Nyame Dada”, “No Stress”, “Black Change”, “Got You”, “Pay Me”, “666”, “You Are The One”, and “Ha Ha Ha.”
