Ghanaian rapper and songwriter, Kirani Ayat born Ayat Maqwam Salis has disclosed that works on his debut album release, ‘Aisha’s Sun’ dated back to 2018.
In an interview with Akosua Hanson on Y107.9FM’s YLounge, he indicated that the album development started in 2018 and was nearly completed in 2019.
According to Ayat, the album was set to be released in 2020 but unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic struck the world and realigned the music space.
“I started recording Aisha’s Sun since 2018. It had to be recorded, redone and I finished the first one in 2019 and was supposed to come out in 2020 then the pandemic happened. It had a whole epiphany, had the whole psychedelic experience,” he said.
For him, out of the darkness and mess, he found light and calmness. He reiterated that the pandemic allowed him to realign his plans and rework a ‘perfect project’.
“The album you know had to be a real experience and you know in alignment I found my true self. I had to come again, come correct and that’s what best Aisha’s Sun is so I pre-recorded the whole album again. It went from a 13-track album down to a 10-track album and I think that was perfection,” he added.
The chronicle of Kirani Ayat’s life from a teenager to an adult is shown in his debut studio album, ‘Aisha’s Sun’. Ayat, recognized as an “Afrocentric” artiste, discusses his background in “Aisha’s Son,” societal issues in “Fada Na,” family and religion in “Duniya” and “Dan Kasa,” and his aspirations in “Sarki” and “GUDA.”
