Ghanaian Afrobeats dancer, Amofa Michael popularly known as Incredible Zigi has made comments concerning controversial statements he made earlier about the Ghanaian music industry.
According to a tweet made by an Accra based radio station, the dancer during a radio interview segment stated that dancers needed to be nominated for music award schemes on account of their key efforts in making records a hit in Ghana and beyond. The tweet read, “Most of the songs that hit are tailored by us. It’s like the artistes are sleeping somewhere, while we push the songs on social media. Therefore, we (dancers) deserve to be awarded in music award schemes.”
However, Zigi in a statement said “Regrettably, it seems that my comments have been misunderstood, and I would like to clarify that we are all interconnected in the same creative family.”
The lead choreographer of Afrozig dance group, extended sincere apologies to all who were offended by his comments and encouraged all industry players within the Ghana creative industry to continue working as a holistic body to produce ‘unforgettable art.’ “I apologize for any offense caused and want to emphasize my respect for artistes and the entire entertainment industry. Let’s celebrate each other’s talents and work together to create unforgettable art.”
