Award-winning Ghanaian high-life and afrobeats singer-songwriter, Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known by his stage name KiDi, has finally replied the question of whether or not he was disappointed by the turn out of events at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
The singer, who bagged four awards out of the nine nominations he received, still seemed disappointed for not being crowned artiste of the year. Talking to Brown Berry on Y107.9FM’s Ryse n Shyne, he noted that he went to the event with an open heart and mind, hence, there was no room for disappointment.
“I was going into the night with an open heart and an open mind. When you expect too much and it doesn’t go as planned, it’s painful so I wasn’t expecting much. I got nine nominations and I didn’t want to go and leave with nothing because that really would’ve killed me so I went with an open heart that anything can happen”, he said.
He mentioned that it was after he was given the first three awards that he got hyped up and was convinced that the night was his.
Kidi, among the males, was the artiste who received the highest number of nominations at the VGMA awards this year with a total of nine. Out of these, he won the Highlife Song of the Year, Afrobeats/Afropop Song of the Year, Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste of the Year, and EP of the Year.
