Ghanaian Afrobeats sensation, Joel Ofori Bonsu, better known as OliveTheBoy, recently spilled the beans about the intriguing origins of his unique stage name and themed brand colour, Green.
During an exclusive interview with Naa Dzama on Y 107.9 FM’s “ShoutsOnY,” OliveTheBoy explained that his name, as well as his distinctive green hair, carries a deeper meaning that reflects his go-getter mentality.
He stated, “There’s more to OliveTheBoy, but I should say I’m a go-getter. I feel like I get whatever I want to achieve no matter the situation, I need to get it. So that is the whole thing behind the name and my hair color. We know green means go, so that’s basically all about me.”
This revelation sheds light on the artiste’s unwavering determination and ambition, which have undoubtedly propelled him to the forefront of Ghana’s music scene among other elite talents.
OliveTheBoy also shared a fascinating fun fact about the origin of his name as he disclosed that it is a revisit to destiny.
“My mom wanted to give me the name Olive, but someway I ended up with Joel. So once I got into music and decided my brand name, I thought why not go for that as well.”
This interesting tidbit not only showcases his sense of humour but also highlights his close connection to his family and the role they played in shaping his identity as an artiste.
The rising star, who hails from Konongo in the Ashanti region of Ghana, has been making waves in the music industry since his hit single “Goodsin” from the album “Avana” went viral on TikTok in May 2023. OliveTheBoy is currently signed to Sony’s Columbia Records.
