Jadon Sancho contract oversight allowing Man Utd to capitalise on Man City mistake

Manchester United have proceeded to the front of the queue to sign England star Jadon Sancho due to an oversight from Manchester City, it has been reported.
Mirror Sport revealed on Tuesday that Borussia Dortmund had decided to cash in on Sancho this summer, with the England winger available for £120million.

The likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid have linked with moves for the former City youngster, but United have now tempted the 19-year-old with an offer of around £200,000-a-week plus the guaranteed status as a first-team starter and the club’s new poster boy.
The finer details of United’s move for Sancho are still set to be ironed out, but the Red Devils are now more confident than ever of tempting the 11-times capped England international back to Manchester.
And, according to the Evening Standard, the reason for that confidence is due to the fact that City failed to insist on an ‘anti-United’ clause in Sancho’s Dortmund contract when he left them for the Bundesliga side in 2017.
City did insist on such a clause when they sold youngster Brahim Diaz to Real Madrid last year, meaning that they would receive a huge 40 per cent sell on fee if Real later allowed him to join United.
That decision perhaps came about after the sale of Sancho, and the teenager’s immediate and impressive impact in Germany.
Sancho – who never played a senior game for City having joined them from Watford as a 14-year-old in 2015 – surprised many people when he turned his back on Pep Guardiola’s side to try his luck in Germany, but his decision was quickly vindicated as he got first-team football.
He has scored 29 goals in 84 Borussia Dortmund appearances, but has always seemed likely to make a move back to the Premier League.
