Deputy Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA), James Gardiner, has urged the collective efforts of Ghana’s creatives as the best way to enhance the country’s film industry.
The renowned actor, in an interview with yfmghana.com’s Kobina Baidoo, explained that division within Ghana’s film industry has significantly impacted its progress.
He revealed that he, together with a board of other executives at the NFA, seek to establish a kind of progress that cuts across all areas of Ghana’s film industry—”a win for everybody,” as he described it.
“It’s an all-hands-on-deck kind of thing. The aim is to make the whole industry better as a whole. So it doesn’t only affect Kumawood or maybe people who are in Accra or people who are in the Upper East or Northern Region. The aim is to tackle the entire industry together as a whole,” he said.
Addressing the wave of criticism that emerged following his appointment, James Gardiner stated that he is open to working with all industry players and members who are willing to take action for the good of Ghana’s film industry and are ready to put in the effort.
“You will get to understand as we go on. No division, no integration whatsoever; whether or not you are on my bad side or have been on my bad side, as long as we are working together, we work together,” he affirmed.
