Black Stars dependable rear-guard Jonathan Mensah has confessed that he got banned by FIFA because he didn’t listen to advice before making the move from Granada to Evian Thonon Gaillard.
The Anzhi Makhachkala defender said inexperience and stubbornness led him to make an uninformed decision to join the French club even though he had a contract with his mother-club, Udinese.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Jonathan indicated that he realized he had made a mistake and knew that the ban was imminent so he wasn’t surprised when he was finally banned. “The timing of my move to France was wrong and it was because I was disobedient and failed to listen to proper advice. I moved from Granada in Spain to Evian in France while I was still a Udinese player and I got banned for four months by FIFA.”
Jonathan told Happy FM. In May 2015, the Court of Arbitration for Sports upheld a 4-months ban imposed on Jonathan Mensah after signing for Evian Thonon Gaillard and claiming to be a free agent despite having a contract with Italian club Udinese.
