Jorginho may be a pass-master but he has gone a ridiculous 1,896 passes with registering an assist for Chelsea in the Premier League
Signed for a reported £57 million, there’s no denying that Jorginho is fundamental to Maurizio Sarri’s style of play. He’s broken the record for the most passes in a Premier League game, completing 180 in the goalless draw against West Ham in September.
But while it’s very rare that a Chelsea attack does not feature the midfield metronome’s contribution in some shape or form, some fans have grown frustrated with the fact he’s played so many passes without actually setting up a goal himself.
He does a great job of keeping Chelsea ticking over and conducting the play at the base of midfield and even completed more passes than the whole of Newcastle’s team on his Premier League debut.
As per the official Premier League site, Jorginho has played 13 through balls – which would suggest he has the capacity to create from deep – but the Italy international could probably do with an assist before the season is out.
After all, even Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has got an assist this season – having set up Sergio Aguero with an outrageous goal-kick against Huddersfield in August.
