The wait couldn’t have been any better and exciting after failing to win the ultimate category at the 2021 edition of the VGMA.
After numerous predictions and sayings last year with his popular phrase “I will be back”, he was finally back yesterday as he was crowned as the overall artiste of the year.
The ‘Touch It’ hitmaker trampled on the likes of ‘Second Sermon’ hitmaker Black Sherif, gospel sensation Joe Mettle, Sarkodie, King Promise and Kuami Eugene to be crowned as winner of the category.

The reigning artiste of the year bagged 4 other awards including, the Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year with ‘Touch It’, Best Reggae/Dancehall Song of the year with ‘Touch It’, Best Afropop/Afrobeats artiste of the year and the Album/EP of the year with his ‘Golden Boy’ album.
Last night’s awards follow the already 5 awards won inclusive of the overall artiste of the year awards at the 2022 edition of the 3Music awards held at the Grand Arena.
