After a prolonged absence from the music scene, Ghanaian rapper Ko-Jo Cue, often referred to as the “Daddy Lumba” of rap, has made a triumphant return with his latest freestyle, “001.”
Ko-Jo Cue took to Twitter to make the grand reveal, sharing a video release of his new single and offering insights into several notable happenings in the Ghanaian music scene.
He proudly commended the collaborative and remarkable success of fellow Ghanaian artistes such as Shatta Wale’s collaboration with global superstar Beyoncé on “Already” of her album “The Lion King: The Gift”
The “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” hitmaker also acknowledged Stonebwoy’s ongoing global tour, which has seen the Afro-dancehall artiste perform to international audiences and further establish himself as a global music ambassador – and praised the incredible rise of exemptional Ghanaian talents like Amaarae, Gyakie, Black Sherif and the Asaaka Boys who have been making waves both locally and internationally.
Ko-Jo Cue further mentioned other notable Ghanaian artistes such as Camidoh, Strongman Burner, Asakaa and Fameye, highlighting their inspirational efforts to push Ghanaian music to new heights.
Ko-jo Cue however expressed disappointment and lashed out at Ghanaians for consistently comparing Ghanaian artistes to Nigerians – and called out Ghanaian music “gatekeepers” for failing the young artistes.
Fans and fellow artistes have been quick to show their support for Ko-Jo Cue’s comeback, with many expressing their anticipation for what he has in store for the music world.
The “Daddy Lumba” is poised to make a significant impact once again as he promises to address everything in his songs rather than to comment on the happenings in Ghana ranging from political, social and showbiz.
“And from today, whatever I have to say, I’ll say it in a song. The truth doesn’t scare me when it rhymes,” he posted.
