Celebrated Ghanaian rapper, Ko-Jo Cue finally raised the roof for his highly awaited performance of his #FMBConcert, on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Nubuke Foundation, a celebration of his 2019 debut record “For My Brothers.”
Originally slated for 2021 but delayed due to the global pandemic, the 2023 edition proved to be well worth the wait.
The evening commenced with the soul-stirring performances of the indie Ghanaian music collective, 99 Phaces. The quartet, comprised of Moffy, Freddie Gambini, Insvne Auggie, and Anabel Rose, mesmerized the crowd with their hit track “Kiddie Time” and an assortment of tunes from their debut EP, “So We Made A Tape.”
The night’s musical odyssey continued with stellar performances from Ghanaian talents like Reynolds The Gentleman and the dynamic Josh Blakk, setting the stage for the main event.
The man of the hour, Ko-Jo Cue, came centre stage and mesmerised the crowd as the clock approached the climax moment. The air thickened with anticipation, and in his grand entrance, the room surrendered to a silence so profound, it seemed even the crickets paused to listen.
Nicknamed the “Young Daddy Lumba,” Cue took fans on a nostalgic journey through his classic and impactful debut album, “For My Brothers.” From the thought-provoking “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” to the anthemic “Wo Nsa Be Ka” with Ayisi, the performance resonated with every chord of Ghana’s rich musical history. The emotional crescendo reached its peak during “Survivor’s Guilt,” and the night was crowned with the infectious energy of “Shii the Song.”
