Celebrated Ghanaian rapper, Ko-Jo Cue finally raised the roof for his highly awaited performance of his #FMBConcert, on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Nubuke Foundation, a celebration of his 2019 debut record “For My Brothers.”

Originally slated for 2021 but delayed due to the global pandemic, the 2023 edition proved to be well worth the wait.

The evening commenced with the soul-stirring performances of the indie Ghanaian music collective, 99 Phaces. The quartet, comprised of Moffy, Freddie Gambini, Insvne Auggie, and Anabel Rose, mesmerized the crowd with their hit track “Kiddie Time” and an assortment of tunes from their debut EP, “So We Made A Tape.”

The night’s musical odyssey continued with stellar performances from Ghanaian talents like Reynolds The Gentleman and the dynamic Josh Blakk, setting the stage for the main event.

The man of the hour, Ko-Jo Cue, came centre stage and mesmerised the crowd as the clock approached the climax moment. The air thickened with anticipation, and in his grand entrance, the room surrendered to a silence so profound, it seemed even the crickets paused to listen.

Nicknamed the “Young Daddy Lumba,” Cue took fans on a nostalgic journey through his classic and impactful debut album, “For My Brothers.” From the thought-provoking “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” to the anthemic “Wo Nsa Be Ka” with Ayisi, the performance resonated with every chord of Ghana’s rich musical history. The emotional crescendo reached its peak during “Survivor’s Guilt,” and the night was crowned with the infectious energy of “Shii the Song.”

However, the most poignant moment of the #FMBConcert occurred when Ko-Jo Cue took a heartfelt period to honour fallen heroes and lost friends in his life. The crowd became a sea of twinkling flashlights as everyone paid tribute to their loved ones. Emotions ran high, and a wave of unity swept through the audience as fans hugged one another, sharing in the collective experience of life’s challenges.

In an interview with yfmghana.com, fans shared their thoughts on the concert. Many expressed that they had put everything on hold to attend and to them, every single moment was worth it.

“We were supposed to have a football match among ourselves tonight but guess what, we postponed it and gathered here to experience Ko-Jo Cue today. I was condensed in every minute of his performance and it was perfect for us,” a fan shared.

“I was supposed to be at my cousins wedding today and in as much as I feel bad I think it was just right for me to here at Ko-Jo Cue’s concert today. I really needed a night like this. I met some old faces made new friends here and I think everyone I met was just so welcoming and ensuring. I loved this evening,” another fan in all excitement commented.
