Korean Police Reportedly Probe Juventus Over Cristiano Ronaldo's Friendly No-Show

Juventus are reportedly being investigated by Seoul Metropolitan Police over Cristiano Ronaldo’s no-show in a friendly.
Korean outlet Chosun report that an official police complaint has been filed against Juventus and the agency who organised the fixture.
65,000 supporters turned out at the Olympic Stadium to see a game between the K-League all stars and Juventus, hoping to see five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo in action last Friday.
The 34-year old was due to play at least a half in the 3-3 draw but Ronaldo sat on the bench for the entire game – with manager Maurizio Sarri later saying he had “muscle fatigue”.
The BBC report that more than 2,000 people have asked to be reimbursed for the money they laid out, each demanding compensation 70,000 won (£48.50; $59) per ticket, 1,000 won for the ticket commission fee, and 1 million won for “mental anguish”.
According to Chosun, a police officer said: “If we can’t find objective evidence of deliberate deception, no fraud case can be established and police can’t intervene since it would become a civil case.”
Reports in South Korea say that Ronaldo and team-mates were slated to do an autograph signing session prior to the game that was postponed because their flight from Nanjing in China was delayed – meaning the subsequent game started 58 minutes later than it was supposed to.
On Tuesday the K League, the governing body for football in South Korea, sent a letter of protest to Juventus in relation to what they believe is a violation of contract.
Juve chairman Andrea Agnelli wrote back a day later and acknowledged Juventus were in the wrong but did not apologise.
“K League clearly registers our profound indignation and disappointment to Juventus’ irresponsible behaviour and manners, and we strongly urge Juventus to offer a sincere apology and explain the reason for Ronaldo’s no-show,” the league said in a statement on Thursday, as per Yahoo.
“The key point… is that Ronaldo did not play even for a minute contrary to the contract guarantee that he would play for at least 45 minutes. However, Juventus’ reply did not offer any apology nor did it explain what exactly happened that day.”
