Korle-Bu Commends Vodafone Ghana

The management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KATH) has applauded Vodafone Ghana for its annual Homecoming initiative which pays the bills of financially challenged patients in hospitals across the country.
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of the telecommunications company, Vodafone Ghana Foundation has since 2011, settled the bills of hundreds of patients of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KATH), and thousands of patients in other health institutions across the country, who were unable to pay their medical bills.
The Chief Executive of the Hospital, Dr. Gilbert Buckle said “the intervention by Vodafone is a demonstration of the organisation’s dedication to supporting health delivery in Ghana. Healthcare can be financially tasking and we appreciate Vodafone Foundation’s thoughtfulness in offsetting the bills of our patients. Our patients are immensely grateful to Vodafone for this timely intervention.”
Dr. Gilbert encouraged Vodafone Foundation to continue its good work and relationship with the hospital.
The Corporate Relations Manager at Vodafone Ghana, Ebenezer Amankwah said “The frustration of having to pay hospital bills deter many people from seeking proper medical attention. It therefore gives us great joy to see people returning to their families happily after getting the needed healthcare to contribute positively to society.
Vodafone Ghana Foundation has over the years supported the country with many health and educational intervention including Healthline TV show, Healthfest, a free community based screening programme; Vodafone Scholars, scholarship for girls studying STEM and Vodafone 3-2-1, a free information access service on pertinent social issues like maternal health, sanitation and information on the upcoming general election.
