Liberal Corporates, a group of young–minded individuals who believe in improving the lives and the future of the Ghanaian youth has congratulated Dr. K.K Sarpong on his appointment as CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Authority (GNPC) this week.
In a press statement, the group expressed its satisfaction with Dr.K.K Sarpong’s appointment and affirmed its belief in his competence for the role, citing his track record over the years in diverse industries.
“We send warm felicitations to you on your appointment to one of the most crucial positions in Ghana’s oil industry, we have no doubt in your ability to deliver at GNPC, based on your previous exploits at Cocoa Board and TOR,” the group said.
The group further commended the President, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for making such an appointment at a time when the oil industry, an industry that has earned the country over $3.2 billion from 2011 – 2015 according to the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC), is going through a challenging phase.
“Mr. President, we want to use this opportunity to laud your decision to appoint Dr. K.K Sarpong as CEO of GNPC, we are confident that if your appointments follow similar considerations, Ghana will make giant strides towards development and our socio-economic challenges will be a thing of the past,” they added.
Dr. K.K Sarpong over the past decades has served the nation in different capacities and has earned several accolades for his diligence and the result-oriented approach to his work. He served as Deputy Managing Director (Finance and Administration) at Produce Ghana buying limited from 1990 to 1994 and later moved to the position of Deputy Chief Executive (Finance and Administration) at COCOBOD from 1994 to 1998.
In addition, Dr. K.K Sarpong has worked with the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Ghana Food Distribution Corporation, Kumasi Asante Kotoko as well as various advisory boards. He is a Chartered Accountant and also holds a PhD in Industrial and Business Studies from the University of Warwick as well as an M.Acc in International Accounting and Finance from the University of Glasgow. He also holds an MBA in Accounting and B.Sc (Administration) Accounting Option from University of Ghana Legon. He replaces Mr. Alex Mould in that capacity.
