The role entertainers’ play in influencing the decisions of their followers in favor or against a chosen cause has always been tapped into by political parties in Ghana and abroad.
Whether for personal interest or not, the role of showbiz stars in the coming election is more than just supporting a political party or candidate; our favorite stars are moving beyond the big screens and farther from the vocal booths to contribute to whoever rules the nation.
Here is a list of celebrities who sympathize with the National Patriotic Party!
KWABENA KWABENA – Kwabena Kwabena, who has been a vigorous supporter of the NPP flagbearer since 1998 released a crusade song to bolster Nana Addo’s 2008 crusade and worked together with Daddy Lumba to release a song for NPP’s 2012 election crusade.
DADDY LUMBA – He composed the monster hit Nana Y3 Winner which served as NPP’s campaign song for 2012.
MAAME DOKONO * – Veteran actress Grace Omaboe known as Maame Dokono’s first attempt at becoming a Parliamentary candidate for the Birim North Constituency was in 2000 as she contested on the ticket of the NDC. When she failed to win in 2000, she returned in 2008 on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party to contest the Birim North (Eastern Region) parliamentary seat and lost again.
Great Ampong – He recorded a song titled Victory song for Nana Addo in 2012 but victory eluded the NPP.
SOCRATE SRAFO – Socrates Safo is one of the brains behind Creative Arts for Change, an organization that invites creative arts professionals to meet and express their needs to Nana Akufu-Addo and they campaigned for the NPP in 2012.
NANA QUAME (NPP) – Nana Quame on May 19th 2016 endorsed the NPP flagbearer in a radio interview, saying he would vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo if he was a registered voter in Ghana.
WISA (NPP) – Wisa Greid on May 16th in a video posted on Facebook declared his support for the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo. According to him, Nana Addo has the solutions to the challenges facing the country including the energy crisis.
“I’ve supported NPP for a while now because since I was born that was the party my father was supporting so that is the party I was born into and that is what I will support,” he said at Labadi in the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Monday, when Nana Addo visited the area.
Nana Ampadu
Highlife musician, Patrick Nana Kwame Ampadu s.k.a Nana Ampadu on April 2016, publicly declared his support for the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo Addo.
