Liverpool have agreed a deal with Roma for Brazil goalkeeper Alisson after submitting an improved second offer on Wednesday morning.
The Independent understands the two clubs have agreed a fee in excess of £65m for the 25-year-old, after Liverpool’s initial offer of £53m plus a further £9m in add-ons was rejected on Tuesday.
Liverpool are now holding talks with the player, who cut short his summer holiday this week, with an agreement between both parties expected to be reached imminently.
The deal will make Alisson the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of the game, comfortably eclipsing the £34.7m Manchester City paid Benfica for his compatriot, Ederson.
