Manchester United has officially announced that the club has terminated the contract of Cristiano Ronaldo on mutual agreement.
The Portuguese captain is set to leave the club with immediate effect following the club’s legal process against him.
This follows Ronaldo’s breach of contract after his controversial interview with UK’s Piers Morgan on TalkTV last week.
It is understood that progress on a mutual exit was made late last week.
The Premier League statement read, “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect. The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.”
