Under-fire Everton boss Marco Silva has arrived at Everton’s training ground, with David Moyes and Tim Cahill standing by to return to the club.
Silva is widely expected to be sacked as Everton boss after his side’s 5-2 defeat to Liverpool left them in the Premier League’s relegation zone.
Former Everton manager Moyes is favourite to replace Silva, with ex-Blue Cahill set to be brought in as his No2, according to the Liverpool Echo .
Silva arrived at Finch Farm shortly after 9am on Thursday morning with a decision on his future expected.
The Echo reports that Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri had been reluctant to sack Silva, but Wednesday night’s Merseyside derby drubbing is believed to have brought matters to a head as the club’s season reached a new low.
It was Everton’s ninth defeat in their first 15 games of the Premier League season, as they continued their 20-year search for a league win at Anfield.
The defeat also saw the Blues ship five against their rivals for the first time since 1982.
After the game, Silva was scathing, branding his side’s display “not good enough, not brave enough”.
When asked about his future, the 42-year-old said: “I am not the right person to answer about the situation, this question is for different people.
“Every game I get the same question.
“My words here will change nothing.”
Silva moved to Merseyside in May 2018 after a long chase from Everton – who had been keen to snare him from Watford during his spell with the Hornets.
His time at Vicarage Road soured, and having been sacked, he eventually moved to Merseyside when the club elected to part with Sam Allardyce.
