2022/23 Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama SC have expressed excitement on the completion of the Tarkwa and Abosso Stadium, which has been renovated by the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation.
The US$16 million facility is expected to serve as a hub for sports activities in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly.
At a ceremony held on August 16, Gold Fields Ghana handed over the stadium to the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly and the National Sports Authority.
Communications Director of Medeama, Patrick Akoto, speaking to Dennis Ivan Opoku of YFM 102.5 Kumasi, shared his satisfaction over the project and was grateful to Gold Fields Ghana for the magnificent edifice.
“Tarkwa as a town that loves football will forever be grateful to Gold Fields Ghana Foundation for the massive support over the last two decades.
“The construction of the Tarkwa and Abosso Stadium shows their love for the community and readiness to also support the sports sector.
“Medeama now has a sports stadium fitting enough for top games and we will enjoy and remember this forever.”
In an inaugural game on Friday night, Medeama left it late to notch a 2-1 victory over Asante Kotoko.
