Ghanaian afro-beats and hiplife sensation Gregory Bortey Newman, popularly known as King Promise has been nominated for the 2021 edition of the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards.
The singer was nominated for the “Best African Music” category alongside UK-based music group, NSG, Burna Bwoy, Davido, Wizkid, Ckay, Ayra Starr, Rema, Tiwa Savage, and Tems who are all Nigerian artistes.
After the release of nominations on the official social media handles of the MOBO Awards academy, The ‘Selfish’ hitmaker was the only Ghanaian artiste to be nominated in this year’s edition.
The MOBO Awards is one of Europe’s most prestigious awards ceremonies that aims at recognizing and honouring the artistic and technical achievements of exceptional British and international talents in the musical fields of Hip Hop, Grime, RnB/Soul, Reggae, Jazz, Gospel, and African music. The 2021 edition of the MOBO Awards is slated for December 5, 2021.
