Ace musician and former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Alhaji Sidiku Buari, has disclosed that when he was younger, his aim was to become an automobile engineer.
Alhaji Buari was interviewed by Rev. Erskine on the Y-Leaderboard Series segment of Y107.9FM’s Myd-Morning Radio show where he shared this news. According to him, he loved cars very much at the time and he yearned to have the know-how to work on cars but later, he had to change his mind because he realized it takes a long time to get into that business.
Going into detail about it, he said that, “As a matter of fact, I had wanted to become an automobile engineer. That was my aim so when I went to the United States, I started but then I changed my plan at the end of it and then I went to school for music and interior decorating”.
I had my diploma for interior decorating and I learnt a little bit of business and the business of music. That’s where I realized the business people were making it better than people working for someone so I managed to become an interior decorator”, he further narrated.
Alhaji Sidiku noted that even aside all this, he also bagged for himself a degree in business administration and that, thankfully, is what helped him when he returned to Ghana from the United States.
“After the contract with Radio Corporation of America, when I came back to Ghana, that’s what helped me to establish myself and that’s what I would say made me what I am today”, the ace singer said.
Alhaji Sidiku Buari is a former president of the Musician Union Association of Ghana (MUSIGA) where he served for eight (8) years before handing over the position to Bice Osei Kuffour popularly known as Obour. Due to his contribution towards the development of music in Africa and Ghana, he was voted the former Vice President of the International Federation of Musicians (FIM).
