The ‘Counselor 1’ Album by Nacee was a masterpiece, a presentation of a potpourri of Ghanaian music of all genres – a move that placed the artist/songwriter/producer/composer under severe scrutiny.
His decision to put songs on the album which many felt were ‘non-gospel’ – got tongues wagging and drew some backlash but the artist remained resolute and unfazed.
The critically-acclaimed album won the ‘Best Album of the Year’ at the 18th edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) and one of the many hit songs on the album, ‘Ye Nyame a Yewo Adze’ won ‘Gospel Song of the Year’.
Nana Osei, popularly known as Nacee is one artist who refuses to rest on his oars and laurels and is already on a follow-up album to ‘Counselor 1’. He calls the upcoming album, ‘Counselor 2’.
The first single off the album sounds like a classic song that, for the umpteenth time, showcases the versatility of Nacee as a formidable songwriter, producer and singer.
He taps into the lyrical dexterity of one of the best rappers in Ghana, Guru, for the new single, #BoysBoys, and the chemistry and camaraderie of the two artists on the song is telling.
The song will be released officially on Thursday, April 27, 2017.
The production is groovy, melodious and infectious, arguably, one of the finest works of Nacee, outside the gospel domain.
#BoysBoys basically talks about deception and ‘borrowed’ lifestyle among the youth; bragging about what one does not possess. It teaches contentment and self-gratification with what one has.
The song is just one of many enthralling songs on the ‘Counselor 2’ album, which is set for release in the next two of months.
