Residents of Newark New Jersey a couple weeks ago experienced a one-of-a-kind fashion marathon dubbed the New York Fashion Week Newark edition!
The weekend long Runway show saw a lot of fashion greats, patrons & models visiting New Jersey’s most populous city!
Ghanaian-born fashion designer Toure, CEO of Toure Designs took center stage of this year’s New York Fashion week with a beautiful exhibition of his high-end Afro urban Leather designs! Toure designs and makes top tier denim & African leather cloths for day-to-day fashion lovers & high fashion lovers! His years of work has seen him design cloths for music icons like Chris brown, tekashi six9ine, French montana, Raekwon, busta Rhymes, Ghost face killa & Ashanti
Toure’s designs bring together different cultures & speak the language of unity!
His collection for this year’s fashion show was inspired by the new Afro-urban wave sweeping a lot of African-inspired art pieces in the world! Models that graced the runway Included Ghanaian entertainer & model Deborah Vanessa, Yung Bae (black ink vh1 reality show & tattooist), markwon Smith (executive producer Godfather of Harlem TV series), Harlem’s Alpo , Celebrity fashion icon April walker & a host of other great fashion faces!
Unlike the Usual NFW, This years event was held in the open streets of Newark to give space for attendants to be able to strictly adhere to the COVID 19 safety protocols! The models took turns on the street(runway) & showcased the different designs from Toure! NFW Newark was graced by the mayor of Newark Ras Baraka. The show was streamed live on the designer’s socials & given a lot of coverage by international media.
