Renowned Ghanaian musician & fashionista Sylvanus Dodji Jeoffrey popularly known as Captain Planet from the renowned music group 4X4 topped yesterdays music countdown On YFM with Rev Erskine & mzOrstin for the third consecutive week with his Hit track “Obi Agye Obi Girl” kicking Mans Not Hot by Comedia Turn singer Michael Dapaah aka big Shaq!
“Obi agye Obi Girl” was officially premiered on YFM 4 weeks ago on the Party Pressure show with Dj Killer fingers & since then has become an anthem everywhere! The song is Captain Planet’s 4th Solo project riding on the success of his early singles including “I’m Blessed” and “Respect”. “Obi Agye Obi Girl” is twi and means “Someone has snatched Someone’s girl” in English. The song basically puts some humor on the mixed feelings behind a common issue in our social setting; taking someone’s girl/boy friend vs being the victim! The song has received massive airplay & response from the various media outlets and the public!
Else where on the Countdown, Kuami Eugene’s “Angela” maintained the number 2 spot for the third week with Post Malone & 21 savage riding right behind them at number 3 with “Rock Star” .
UK based Ghanaian comedic rapper Michael Dapaah Followed at number 4!!
MTN hitmaker 2015 Kidi came in at number 5 with a remix of his hit song “ODO” featuring Davido & his signee Mayorkun. Atumpan moved from number 8 to 6 yesterday with “Wait In vain”..Ashaiman based Kwesi Slay maintained the number 7 spot for the second week with “wedi Bet’. J Balvins “ Mi Gente” was number 9 with Knii Lante riding behind at number 10 with “You” ft Feli Nuna!
In the second half of the list we had three new songs entering the countdown!; Flowking Stone with “Bronya Ade” ft Ayesem at number 20, “moving on” by AI at number 19 & “Too Much” by Obrafour! So far AK songstress, Trigmatic, Knii Lante and Kwesi slay have managed to stay relevant in the list for four weeks straight! However the biggest drop yesterday was Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” having dropped from number 5 last week to number 11 yesterday!
Over all, These past week’s has seen an immense takeover by Ghanaian music!
