Multitalented Toronto-based artiste, Omega Mighty, has shared her preferred music style and how she contextualizes music along with other music genres.
In an interview with Akosua Hanson on Y107.9 FM’s “Y Lounge”, the multilayered musician described herself as an ‘RnB’ Fusion artiste.
According to her, her musical style, ultimately, ‘RnB’, also encompasses other genres including Afrobeat and Dancehall.
“I’m an RnB fusion artiste. What you get with that is from traditional RnB, starting with the vocals and a little bit of jazz vocals and texture there, but you do get it layered with curvy flavours like Dancehall, a little bit of Afrobeat sprinkled in there too. It comes with a few genres and that’s what really gets cool with the music that I make,” she told Akosua Hanson.
Omega furthered, “My performance is really lively so I’m all about fusing and owning the music, performance and dance to one. So that’s who Omega Mighty really is.”
Reacting to how she has been able to perfect her artistic craft, cutting across as a multi-talented artiste, she disclosed that she started music at the tender age of 4 training in classical piano.
“I started music at the age of four so I’ve literally been doing it my whole life. Something took me away from the path but I’ve always returned to music and definitely it’s who I need to be always,” she added.
Omega has gained recognition with the release of her most recent EP, “Me & Youforia,” for fusing elements of traditional R&B, Reggae-Dancehall, Afrobeats, and even Trap to create a wholly unique sound. She is enthusiastic about getting her music heard by the general public despite the several lockdowns.
