Could Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang knock off Ezequiel Lavezzi as the highest paid player on the planet?
Last week it emerged that Hebei China Fortune’s Lavezzi is the highest paid player in the world when it comes to basic weekly wage. His basic is £798,000-per-week!
Though one thing money can’t buy you is sense. Amirite?!
But if fellow Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian could have their way, the lethal Gabon frontman would become the best-paid player in the world.
That’s because the Chinese outfit are prepared to offer him a monster deal to lure him to the Far East.
They’ve reportedly offered Aubameyang a massive €50 million-a-season contract according to Calciomercato via L’Equipe.
The club is managed by Italian World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro and he’s hellbent on bringing one of the deadliest frontmen in Europe to Asia.
It continues the ongoing Aubameyang transfer saga who was supposedly on the verge of completing a mega money deal to Paris Saint-Germain.
But Tianjin could scupper those plans as they hope to land his services.
As well as the French giants, Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the 27-year-old as they are keen on sitting down with the players representatives ahead of a potential move to the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho and Co. will be spending big once the transfer window reopens in the summer, as they enter the market in search of a replacement for the injury-stricken Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The towering Swede is expected to be on the sideline till early 2018, and could leave Old Trafford for the Major League Soccer in the States.
Meanwhile, Tianjin are desperate to compete with the other big hitters in the CSL by sealing a marquee signing. The club have also been heavily linked with Chelsea’s Diego Costa.
The Spanish striker has been flirting with a move to the money-rich league that could see him pocket a cool £25 million a year.
Could Costa and Aubameyang both be playing in the CSL, next season?
