The foremost Executive and immediate President of the Ghana Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, is set to hang his cassock after contributing meaningfully and gracefully to the attainment of the Great Commission.
The renowned man of God has served the good Lord in various capacities in both the local and international scene and will now bow out of active ministry on Saturday, December 10, 2022.
The end-of-term and retirement service takes place at Calvary Baptist Church, Shiashie on the said date.
Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi has shown unflinching dedication to the church and prioritized God’s ministry. He has continually displayed his love for God and has made this known on all the platforms he mounts.
In a special appearance on Y107.9FM’s Leaderboard Series, the renowned man of God disclosed how he left a good paying job to pursue ministry, a decision which has always filled his heart with gladness.
The ardent champion of the youth also on the same platform also used the opportunity to advice youth who desire to venture into ministry to seek the traits of honesty and commitment. He regards these traits the building pillars of right Christian leaders.
Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi’s ministry work began in 1975 when he founded the Revolution (REVO) All Night Prayer Ministry at Grace Baptist Church in Kumasi. He became a founding member of the Charismatic Baptist Church, Taifa, Accra where he served as Senior Pastor for 25 years.
By God’s leading, he established three daughter churches namely: Living Streams Baptist Church, Atomic; Liberty Baptist Church, Ofankor and Greater Grace Baptist Church, Taifa. During his tenure as Executive President of the Ghana Baptist Convention, he led the establishment of the Baptist International Worship Centre at the Headquarters, Abelenkpe in 2017.
He is a graduate of the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) now the University of Professional Studies (UPSA), the Maranatha Bible College, (now Maranatha University College) and the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond (BTSR), Virginia, USA. He holds a Master of Divinity (MDiv) Degree with concentration in Christian Education and a Doctor of Ministry degree (DMin) with concentration in Justice and Peacebuilding both from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, Virginia, USA among other qualifications.
On the international front, Rev Dr Adu-Gyamfi served as the President of the All Africa Baptist Fellowship from 2016 to 2021. From 2015 to 2020 he served as a Vice President of the Baptist World Alliance representing Africa. Currently, he is serving as the Vice Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Baptist World Alliance.
