Rihanna is reportedly single.
Sources tell Us magazine that the Grammy-winning singer has ended her relationship with Hassan Jameel, a 31-year-old businessman she began dating in 2017—less than a year after she and Drake reportedly called it quits. Though RiRi and Jameel had nabbed plenty of headlines over the years, they managed to keep their relationship relatively private. Rihanna briefly spoke about her love life in a 2019 Interview cover story, confirming she was “of course” in love with Jameel and wanted “more than anything in life” to become a mother. She wasn’t, however, set on tying the knot.
“Only god knows that, girl,” she told Sarah Paulson when asked if marriage was on the horizon. “We plan and god laughs, right?”
“Rihanna and him were together for a while,” a source told MediaTakeOut News at the time. “It was a good relationship, but now it’s over. Of course, Rihanna broke his heart. That’s what she does: break[s] men’s hearts … Rihanna just got tired of him. She gets tired of men sometimes.”
Insiders did not share any details about the reason behind the latest split, and the couple has yet to confirm or deny the reports.
Complex has reached out to Rihanna’s camp for comment.
News of the split arrives as Rihanna’s fan base—known as the Navy—continue to hold their collective breath for new music. The 31-year-old artist has not released an album since 2016’s Anti, but confirmed to Interview magazine she was working in the studio.
“It really does suck that it can’t just come out, because I’m working on a really fun one right now,” she said. “I’m really happy with a lot of the material we have so far, but I am not going to put it out until it’s complete. It makes no sense to rush it, but I want it out. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m like, ‘Even if I don’t have the time to shoot videos, I’m going to put an album out.’”
