Rocky Dawuni, Ghanaian singer and record producer, has bagged a third GRAMMY nomination. The reggae song writer was previously nominated for “2016 Best Reggae Album”, “2022 Global Music Album” and “2023 Global Music Performance” and has been noted to be the first Ghanaian to receive three nominations in different categories.
The GRAMMY is an award presented by the Recording Academy of the United States to recognize “Outstanding Achievement in the Music Industry”. The GRAMMY is one of the world’s biggest music awards organized annually. The GRAMMY trophy given as a souvenir to every award winner depicts a gilded gramophone. Back in the day, gramophones played track records that have been burnt onto discs before the introduction of radios in the 1930’s.
Rocky Dawuni noted for his unique style of music tagged along with Nigeria’s African Giant, Burna Boy and songstress Tems also nominated for Best Global Performance and Best Melodic Rap respectively.
The reggae song writer reacted on his twitter page and tweeted “I am truly honored to be nominated for another #Grammy award for my song “Never Bow Down” feat. @BLVKH3RO. This is huge for Africa and the Caribbean coming together on this global roots anthem! Thank you to everyone who was part of this and congrats to my fellow nominees.”
Rocky Dawuni is an inspiration to young musicians and wannabees all over Africa. Ghana supports him and wishes him well to make a mark for Ghana and Africa at large.
