Former greats including Pele, Diego Maradona and the Brazilian Ronaldo are continually asked by journalists to name the current best player in the world.
And each time it seems they offer a different answer, depending on whether Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo is performing better at any given time.
It was only back in August that Ronaldo, the former Brazil international, omitted Cristiano from his all-time best XI in favour of Messi.
Fast-forward two months, though, and Ronaldo has now decided that Cristiano is the world’s best player over the Barcelona superstar.
But the 40-year-old, himself a two-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, has gone a step further by naming the four players he believes are currently the world’s best.
Asked how he would rank Cristiano, Messi and Neymar, Ronaldo was quoted by ESPN as saying: “They are three great players.
”I would also include Luis Suarez as he is playing very well. This is the most common question in all interviews — I don’t know if it is just for me, or for everyone, but when we ask this question we forget that they are three great players.”
So, to make that clear, Ronaldo currently believes Cristiano, Messi, Neymar and Suarez are the world’s best.
No room for either Gareth Bale, the second most expensive player of all time behind Paul Pogba, or Atletico Madrid’s in-form Frenchman, Antoine Griezmann.
