International multi-award-winning rapper and Adonai hitmaker, Michael Owusu Addo, known globally throughout the music industry as Sarkodie, has stated that his journey to success has not been an easy one, and his life story which has been embedded in a couple of his songs has served a useful purpose.
The 2019 winner of the BET Hip Hop Award for Best international Flow while speaking during his latest album (Jamz) listening on Y107.9FM’s YLounge with Akosua Hanson, he stated that he has tried not to lose himself despite climbing higher heights and seeing greater opportunities. “I always keep the people who know me as Michael and not just Sarkodie close to me. The people that tell you the truth whether or not you want to hear it,” he emphasized.
Sarkodie has a strong attachment to the old part of his life which serves as a reminder and an inspiration to him and everyone that dreams to become a pacemaker.
One of the songs on his recently released Jamz album titled Better Days is a typical example.
Sarkodie urges listeners to understand what life is about and try their best to understand reality. “In as much as you have become Sarkodie, doors are opening for you and you skip queues, that’s not the reality, don’t fall for that,” he cited and enveloped that by saying “you are going to become who you were before the fame if everything is stripped of you.”
