Social Media Week this year will take place within a period of three days beginning from 25th to 27th September 2019.
Some sessions will be held at the Multi-choice office, Silver Bird Cinemas, and the Accra Mall.
This year’s theme “Stories” “With great influence come great responsibility” will give the organisers and participants a better chance to explore the various formats of sharing the Ghanaian narrative.
“We are all producers of content and stories, as social media has given all of us a voice; but we have to be responsible with the same level of influence we have. The theme Stories is tag lined ‘With great influence comes great responsibility.’ We the organizers of this year’s social media week have created educative, entertaining and informative formats for brands, the press, the arts and creative industry, influencers, digital and tech enthusiasts,” the organisers stated in a press release.
The organisers of the Social Media Weeks see to among other things:
- Establish digital usage of social media as a formidable creative and business tool that has come to stay with us Ghanaians to be used effectively
- Educate and inform patrons on the use of social media in pushing the Ghanaian story
- Build virtual relationships between small businesses
- Inspire people to use social media for social causes.
- Present a positive Ghanaian narrative.
“Everyone has a story so we are creating conversations that will include everybody,” the statement added.
There will be sessions for the filmmaking industry, Brands and Advertising, Masterclasses tutored by industry experts, Keynote addresses and Panel discussion from seasoned experts around the world.
“This year, we will be introducing segments that enforce intentional networking (so you don’t have to participate and then be struggling with networking and connecting) you will definitely leave with a contact that will help in your personal development, business, and that creative idea.”
