Globally recognized dancehall artist Stonebwoy delivered a heartfelt tribute to the late Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, during his performance at the Africa Music Festival held at Schlossplatz Emmendingen in Germany on August 2, 2025.
The event, which drew a large crowd of fans dancing to hits from the dancehall star, took an emotional turn when Stonebwoy paused his performance to lead the audience in a minute of silence in memory of Daddy Lumba. Stonebwoy served as the headline act for the night, performing alongside supporting artist Sona Jobarteh.
“I want to use this opportunity to honor the Ghanaian legend Daddy Lumba, who started his career right here in Germany,” Stonebwoy said. “He gave us a great album, he gave us good music, and he laid the foundation for the path we are charting today. He began that journey here in Germany in 1989. As he is being honored back home in Ghana, it is only fitting that we do the same here today—on August 2nd, in the land of good people.”
Following his tribute, Stonebwoy launched into a powerful singalong performance of Daddy Lumba’s classic hit Aben Wo Ha, stirring nostalgia and reverence among the audience.
The moment has since resonated widely with fans and music lovers, both in Ghana and across the diaspora, as a moving salute from Stonebwoy to Daddy Lumba.
