Flag-bearer of the Conventions People Party (CPP), Ivor Greenstreet, on Sunday made a cash donation to the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry (CEM) towards their initiative to support persons with disability through a program dubbed “A Day of Help”
The CPP presidential hopeful made the donation during CEM’s first service at the Rehoboth Temple, North-Legon. During the presentation, Mr. Greenstreet recounted his own disability story and commended the General Overseer of CEM, for his generousity and commitment in supporting persons with disability over the years. “Not everyone is born with disability but, you can be alright today and find yourself incapacitated the next moment,” Mr. Greenstreet said. He entreated members of CEM to support Rev. Steve Mensah’s initiative and be mindful of discriminating against persons with disability. “Treat persons with disability the same way you treat others because you can be like them anytime,” he added.
The flag-bearer of the CPP concluded his speech with a humble plea to the congregation to vote wisely in the upcoming elections. “I belong to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah party, the party that led the way to secure independence for our great nation and the party whose achievement has given Ghana a hope in fighting the “Dumsor” crisis. He told the congregation to look beyond his disability and look at his leadership qualities which are key in successfully steering the affairs of Ghana.
Receiving the donation on behalf of CEM was the General Overseer, Rev. Steve Menasah, who thanked Mr. Greenstreet for his philanthropic gesture and kind words. “CEM is grateful for your donation, be rest assured that your donation will change someone’s life,” Rev. Mensah said. He wished Mr. Greenstreet well in his ongoing campaign for the upcoming presidential elections and encouraged the congregation to take a cue from Mr. Greenstreet’s donation.
CEM’s Day of Help is aimed at providing food, shelter, clothing and healthcare for persons with various disability. The event is slated for the Independence Square on Saturday August, 27. 2016 and aims to provide the basic needs of close to 20,000 persons with various disability like deaf community, persons with albinism, autistic persons, the blind and many more.
