TD Mobile launches officially in Ghana with a clear mandate to deepen the rate of technology diffusion and the pace of mobile devices penetration in the country.
Managing Director, TD Mobile, Mrs. Gozy Ijogun at the official launch of TD Mobile and exclusive distributorship of NOKIA mobile phones in Ghana on Friday October 27th, 2017 stated that their ambition was to become not only Sub-Saharan Africa’s biggest mobile device distributor but the driving force for mobile revolution on the African continent.
“Today, the world has gone mobile: new and emerging technologies are causing radical changes to the way we live, work, consume and share information; to the way we play and do business.
“Hitherto-alien concepts such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cryptocurrencies and Robotics, among others are no longer buzzwords but are realities that are set to shape our existence sooner rather than later.
“We are indeed in the Fourth Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0, as it is otherwise called; an age sign-posted by the rise of mobile; an era in which the mobile device you carry around will come to represent the hub of your entire daily activities. For us as a business, Ghana has remained a major country of focus in our expansionary plans.
“Despite the favourable indices and huge potential in the country, it will interest you to note that smartphone penetration currently hovers around 21% in Ghana according to recent research statistics at our disposal. This situation can best be described as an anomaly.
“The average Ghanaian is aspirational and technologically-aware. Furthermore, the literacy level in this country is one of the highest on the continent at a commendable 76.6%.
“Considering the foregoing statistics, Ghana ought to be in the lead in the area of technology diffusion in Africa. This is the identified gap that TD Mobile has come to fill.
“Today, we are glad to officially announce our status as the exclusive distributors of NOKIA mobile phones in Ghana. From the much-anticipated NOKIA 6 and the re-born version of the iconic NOKIA 3310, among other eye-catching models recently unveiled by the brand, TD Mobile is proud to add the NOKIA brand to the growing list of premium Original Equipment Manufacturers represented.
“I must also be quick to mention that the NOKIA devices run the latest Android Operating System, which has greatly improved their appeal in the consumer market space.
“We intend to add significant value to the entire mobile distribution value chain in Ghana. Our sterling work with some of the biggest telecoms companies in Nigeria including MTN, Airtel and Etisalat, among others and the excellent after-sales support we are known for, has put us in the forefront as a strong value-added distribution company. We fully intend to replicate and surpass these positive strides here in Ghana.”
TD Mobile launched in November 2015, TD Mobile was born with a keen eye on the future of smart technologies. TD Mobile is widely renowned as an undisputed source for genuine mobile devices sourced directly from Original Equipment Manufacturers. From a position of strength, it has grown to become the biggest mobile devices distributor in the West African sub-region.
