Captain of the Ghana National football team, Andre Morgan Rami Ayew professionally known as Dede Ayew, has been showered with appreciation by Ghanaians on all social media outlets for saving the team from playing against Brazil.
The winger for Qatar stars league club Al Saad, joined the Ghana national team to play against Portugal on Friday, December 2, 2022. The match which rounded up as a win for Portugal still did not give them clearance into the next round of the FIFA World Cup despite the results of the score line 2-0 against Ghana.
Ghana managed to get one chance in the game with a rebound by Mohammed Kudus which won a penalty in the 19th minute for the Black Stars. The captain of the national team volunteered to take the kick for the Black Stars yet amounted to nothing.
Ghana’s qualification to the round of 16 to play against Brazil ideally became a dream every Ghanaian supporter hoped to see become a reality until Ghana saw Brazil play against Korea on Monday, December 5, 2022 which ended with a score line 4-1 against South Korea.
It was on this account Ghana expressed its token of gratitude to Andre for missing the penalty which broke down the team completely thus their inability to bag a goal.
