Apple is expected to announce the new lineup of iPhones later today, and according to leaks coming from China, it will come with support for dual SIM cards.
This may be a small revolution for Apple. While dual SIM has been supported by several Android phones for many years, this would be a first for Apple. Several leaks, coming from China, have shown a dual SIM card tray in a new Apple device. But a recent post from one of China’s leading wireless carrier seems to remove all doubt.
The post shows an illustration of an apple (not the phone, the real fruit ) with two SIM cards coming out of it. A quick Google translation tell us that this post is indeed promoting a “New Apple with dual SIM” and all the benefits of having two SIM cards in one phone – like having one for voice and one for data.
Of course, Android fans around the world were quick to mock the “novelty” as dual SIM support has already been around for many years.
That said, leaks coming from China could indicate the dual-SIM iPhone could only be available on the Chinese market – where iPhone sales have been plummeting.
I’m still thinking: Why would I want to use two SIM cards anyway?
