Jose Mourinho has outdone Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola to hold the record for the football manager with the highest-spending record on transfers.
The Portuguese manager, 56, has been out of management since he was axed at Manchester United in December last year.

And the ‘Special One’ holds the record for the most cash splashed out on transfers as he has made 97 signings in total and spent a whopping €1.6bn.
Both Napoli boss Ancelotti and City manager Guardiola are in joint-second place with €1.2bn spent on transfers.
However, Ancelotti has made 85 signings in comparison to Guardiola’s 52.

Behind Mourinho, Ancelotti and Guardiola include the likes of Manuel Pellegrini, Massimiliano Allegri and Arsene Wenger.
West Ham head coach Pellegrini came fourth with 82 signings and €1.1bn spent in transfer windows.
Allegri, who left Juventus at the end of last season, follows closely behind Pellegrini with 87 signings and €1bn spent.
Posted below are the top ten managers with the highest spending in transfer windows, according to Transfermarkt.
  • Unai Emery: €753m (63 signings)
  • Rafa Benitez: €753m (92 signings)
  • Claudio Ranieri: €801m (95 signings)
  • Roberto Mancini: €802m (79 signings)
  • Arsene Wenger: €964m (103 signings)
  • Max Allegri: €1bn (87 signings)
  • Manuel Pellegrini: €1.1bn (82 signings)
  • Pep Guardiola: €1.2bn (52 signings)
  • Carlo Ancelotti: €1.2bn (85 signings)
  • Jose Mourinho: €1.6bn (97 signings)
Mourinho, who has been a pundit on Sky Sports this season, teared up last month after he admitted how much he misses football.
The ex-Real Madrid and Chelsea boss has confessed that he is open to the idea of managing a national team and wants to compete in the World Cup and Euros.
“I want to compete in new competitions,” he told Eleven Sports in June.
“I think about the World Cup and the European Championships.
“For a long time, I have had the desire to try out such an adventure.
“Right now, I see myself more at a national team than with a new club.
“Is Portugal the right team for me? Not necessarily.”
