The Tufuhene of the Oguaa Traditional Council, has laid it on thick that the Fetu Afahye celebrated by the people of Oguaa, Cape Coast in the Central region of Ghana is the most celebratory festival ever.
Interviewed on the “Our Story” segment of Y97.9 FM’s ‘Reggae Republic’, the Tufuhen reiterated that people from all walks of life and across the world, “chiefs, and common people, either white or black gather at Cape Coast to observe the Fetu Afahye.”
He reiterated that although reverence is given to whoever is due during the festival, the moment is no respecter of age, colour and power as everyone comes together to celebrate their historic past making it “the biggest in the country.”
“Sometimes, our elders say when you blow your own trumpet you’re bragging but the Ogua Fetu Afahye is a sight to behold. There’s no traditional festival in Ghana that can be compared to the celebration Fetu Afahye,” he told Haruna Babangida, Host of Reggae Republic.
The annual Fetu Afahye, which culminated into a vibrant durbar, brought the Central Regional capital of Cape Coast to life last Saturday.
Thousands of tourists flocked to the old city to celebrate the event with the locals after it had to be postponed for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which slowed down social and commercial activity all across the world.
As a result, the festival’s comeback was met with great delight, and attendees enjoyed a ton of culture, excitement, and pleasure.
