The early days of 2022 witnessed an international beef between some Ghanaian and Nigerian artistes. The dragging and trolling started on social media after Ghanaian Dancehall act Shatta Wale made some unsavoury comments about Nigerian artistes during his joint concert with rapper Medikal.
The Dancehall act after his statements garnered some support from his fans and colleague musicians including Medikal and Wendy Shay.
However, UK-based Ghanaian afro-beats artiste, W1zzy has discredited the Shatta Wale’s act and advised that Ghanaian artistes to do away with unnecessary entertainment disputes with Nigerians and work together to promote African music.
“I feel like there’s another way we can come together and solve issues and I just feel like that way hasn’t worked. Putting that aside, Nigerians and Ghanaians have been working together anyway. Let’s not buy into divisions and focus on the unity, there’s strength in numbers,” he said to Y 107.9 FM’s Kojo Manuel during the ‘Dryve of your Lyfe’ show.
W1zzy further advised that Ghanaian artistes solve their problems and that of the music industry before looking out to people and international acts.
“I feel like everybody has valid points because there’s always room for improvement. I feel like we shouldn’t look at other people to solve our problems, we should solve our problems ourselves before looking out to somebody. Ghanaians should hold on to our local artistes and support them than that international artistes,” he said.
W1zzy is currently promoting his recently released 9-track Extended Playlist (EP) dubbed ‘Love Always Wins’ and entreating his newly found fans and music enthusiast to stream his songs.
